Funeral services for Mr. Vernon Jackson Davis, age 91, of Pocahontas, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Manchester Funeral Home with bro. Terry Milburn officiating. Burial to follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 5:00PM until 9:00PM at Manchester Funeral Home. Mr. Davis passed from this life on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro.
Vernon was born in Coffee County on March 17, 1931, the son of the late John and Lena Davis. Vernon was previously a member of the Pocahontas Church of Christ and currently a member of Crossroads Church of Christ. He retired from the US Airforce of twenty years as a Maintenance Technician. He also retried from Kingwood Arms where he worked as a Maintenance Technician for over twenty years. He enjoyed going to different bluegrass events, playing dominos and cards, attending local red raider ballgames, learning new skills, drinking coffee with his sister, and most importantly spending time with his beloved family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Simmons Davis; second wife, Freda Hagar Davis; one daughter, Patsy Howse; eight brothers, Eldie Davis, John Robert Davis, Kenneth Davis, Abe Davis, Dorris Davis, Eugene Davis, Elvin Davis, and Jimmie Davis; three sisters, Opal Bush, Ethel Duke, and Jane Davis. He Is survived by one son, Jackie Davis and wife Teresa; one sister, Treva Summers; six grandchildren, Mandy (Cory), Megan (Jeremy), Eric (Jessica), Angel, Dusty (Mark), and Stevie; ten great grandchildren; brother- in- law, David Earl Simmons; four special nieces, Sharon, Valerie, Teresa, and Michelle; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In lieu of flower, memorial contributions can be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
