James Twitty Obituary

A private memorial service will be held for Mr. James Leslie Twitty, age 78, of Pelham, TN on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Manchester Funeral Home with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating. Mr. Twitty passed from this life on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Southern Tennessee Regional Medical Center in Winchester, TN.

He was born on February 10, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to the late Lyle and Ruth Twitty. He graduated from Dixon High School in Dixon, IL and then served in the United States Army.  Jim had a long career in the clincal laboratory diagnostics field. He was a member at Lilburn Christian Church in Lilburn, GA for many years. He was part of the Kitchen Ministry, Men’s Ministry and Community Outreach while at the church. After moving to Pelham, he attended the First Baptist Church of Manchester.  Jim loved people and had a contagious laugh. He was happiest when spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brother, Doug Twitty and sisters, Helen Willson and Emelie Twitty.  He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marsha Twitty; son David Twitty; two daughters, Janet Platt (Brent) and Pam Scalf (Nathan); stepson, Brian Jones (Peg); stepdaughter, Melissa Schaprio (Brad); ten grandchildren, Lauren Harrison, Alyssa Whelan, Megan Platt, Craig Platt, Natalie Scalf, Kylie Scalf, Hannah Jones, Colin Jones, Matthew Jones and Jackson Schapiro and two great-grandchildren, Lillian and Corrie Harrison.
