Gary Pearson Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mr. Gary Pearson on January 7, 2024, at Unity Medical Center in Manchester, Tennessee. Born on February 4, 1962, in Freeport, IL, Gary was the cherished son of the late Wayne Pearson and Diane Leonard Pearson.

Gary's vibrant life unfolded at Saint Mary Church in Freeport, where he cultivated a deep spiritual connection. A standout at Aquin High School, he not only excelled academically but also left an indelible mark on the sports arena, playing with unparalleled skill in both football and basketball as well as the swim team. Gary's prowess on the field garnered him numerous trophies, a testament to his dedication and love for sports. Gary received a full scholarship to University of Wisconsin-Platteville (UW-Platteville) where he excelled academically.

Beyond the athletic realm, Gary was a true Renaissance soul. Gifted with an extraordinary musical talent, he had the remarkable ability to play any tune he heard on the radio on the piano, effortlessly bringing melodies to life without the need for practice.

In addition to his athletic and musical talents, Gary had a profound love for good food and cherished moments spent with family. He found joy in sharing delicious meals and creating lasting memories around the family table, where laughter and love flowed freely.

"May his legacy endure through the timeless artifacts he unearthed, the cherished memories he forged, and the triumphant notes he played with the music that echoed in his soul. May the aroma of good food and the warmth of family gatherings forever remind us of the rich tapestry of Gary's life."

Gary is survived by his loving mother, Diane Leonard Pearson, and will be forever remembered by his children, Reuben and Rebecca Pearson. He is also survived by his sisters: Veronica Motongo, Brenda Crutcher, Marsha Pearson, and Patti Shadkhoo. Additionally, Gary leaves behind numerous extended family members and a multitude of friends who were touched by his warmth, athleticism, and culinary delights and his great sense of humor.
