Fred Austin Tate, age 88, passed away in the comfort of his home, following a long-term illness, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
Born to the late Robert and Gussie Tate, on June 18, 1933, Fred devoted his life to being a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A United States Marine Veteran, Fred served as a Lance Corporal, in the Korean War, from 1952- 54. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post # 10904. Fred was a hard worker all of his life, being a former employee of Jersi-Gold Dairy and retiring from Batesville Casket Company. He attended church, at Forrest Mills Church of Christ for several years, up until his health prohibited him from attending. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all, sitting on his back porch, waving at people and feeding, from his hands, the squirrels in his backyard. Fred will surely be missed by his loving family, friends and the Manchester Community.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of forty-four years, Arlie Tate; two brothers, Robert “R.E” Tate and Charles Tate; and one sister, Mary Holland.
Survivors include one son, Ken Tate; one daughter, Beverly (Gary) Parham; two grandchildren, Jeremy Parham and Ashley (Rodney) Banks; and two great grandchildren, Bennett Parham and Cooper Parham.
Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, in Tullahoma, Tennessee, on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 9AM, with Bro. Doyle Sherill officiating.
Interment to immediately follow.
