Mr. Ewin Stanley Davis, age 87, of Manchester, TN passed away April 9, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held 2PM Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Manchester Funeral Home. Brother Paul Fulks will officiate, with burial to follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
The Family will receive visitors 4 PM until 8 PM Wednesday, April 12, 2023, and again at 12 PM unitl time of service on Thursday at the funeral Home.
Mr. Davis was born July 22, 1935, in Manchester, TN, to the late George and Edna (Harrell) Davis. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Manchester.
Ewin married his neighbor and elementary school sweetheart, June Elam, in 1955 at age 19, on April 10, they would have been married 68 years.
He was a dairy farmer, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His absence will be missed by all.
Ewin's dairy farming began at about age 6 and ended at age 73 when he transitioned to beef farming.
Throughout his life Ewin was engaged in other activities, even while he continued farming. These included running a sawmill, working at a GM Car Factory in Detroit, working nightshift at Carrier (1970 – 1976), running a milk truck route (1977 – 1981)
Ewin enjoyed ballgames of all types, especially football, basketball, and baseball, with that great love he built his own "Maple Spring's Feild of Dreams" that was enjoyed by all the youth of Coffee County. He had a reputation of being very verbal at some of the games. He was a Babe Ruth Baseball coach in early and mid-70’s.
Ewin enjoyed reading the Bible, along with books of history, poetry, and philosophy. He loved the Lord and was always encouraging others to do the same.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Stanley Davis; and brothers G.A. Davis, James Davis; he is survived by his wife, June Elam Davis, of 68 years; sons, Glenn Alan Davis (Julie), Jerry D. Davis, and Samuel E. Davis (Carol); brother, Rexford Davis; sisters, Flora Mae Wakefield, Irene Bartlett; sister in-law, Linda K. Davis; Grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Nelson, Jenna (Josh) Scott, Melissa (Jameson) McBrayer, Jared (Lainey) Davis, and Michelle Davis, Mattox Davis, Samuel Davis, Sean (Shelby) Davis; Great Grandchildren, Kayra Davis, Braxton Nelson, Annalise Nelson, and Lucas Nelson.
