Brandy was a child of God, a daughter, a big sister, a wife and a mother. She was born and raised as an ARMY brat and lived in Kansas, California, Washington, Alaska, and Indiana before her family settled in 1993 in Smyrna, Tennessee. She played soccer and the clarinet for the marching band at Smyrna High School. While attending a youth trip with First Baptist Church of Smyrna, Brandy met her high school sweetheart, Nick. After graduating from Smyrna High School in 1999, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, magna cum laude, from The University of Tennessee at Martin in 2003. Brandy homeschooled her four daughters and was an avid crafter including, but not limited to crocheting, quilting, photography and painting. She also loved baking and designing her daughters’ birthday cakes. Brandy loved spending time with her family and puppies, being at the lake, fishing, gardening, crafting and visiting the ocean. “If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there Your hand will guide me, and Your strength will support me.” Psalm 139:9-10
In addition to her parents Brandy is survived by her husband of 20 years, Nick Yates; daughters, Addison, Alyssa, Audrey and Ava Yates; sister, Denisse (Dennis) Edwards; and nephews, Lincoln and Raymond Edwards.
