Billy Wayne Vaughn, age 74 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester, Tennessee on April 6, 1949, to the late Willis Vaughn and Ella Gertrude Tenpenny Vaughn. Billy was a faithful member of the Lumley Stand Church of Christ, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who enjoyed helping others. He spent many years as a fill-in minister for several congregations in the area before his health began to decline and was no longer able to do something he truly loved. Before his retirement in 2014, he was an auto mechanic for forty-six years with the last twenty-eight years at Gary Force Acura. Billy was a humble, hard-working man who spent time teaching his sons and grandchildren to love the Lord first, take care of each other and to always give their “best shot” at whatever they choose to do.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Emmit Vaughn, and Paul Vaughn. Billy is survived by his loving wife and best friend of fifty-six years, Brenda Jones Vaughn; two sons, Joey Wayne (Michelle) Vaughn and Billy Jason (Alisha) Vaughn; five grandchildren, Abbey (Austin) Haney, Silas Vaughn, Jacey Vaughn, Sawyer Vaughn, Jaxon Vaughn; one great-grandchild, Kolt Haney; four brothers, Donald (Linda) Vaughn, James (Gloria) Vaughn, Marlon (Grace) Vaughn, Doug (Dianne) Vaughn, sister-in-law, Julia Vaughn, brother-in-law, Marlin (Michelle) Jones, sister-in-law, Jan (James) Cossey who he considered his sister, sister-in-law, Shirley Jones, sister-in-law, Dowe Jones, his Deerfield Backpack Program buddy and special cousin, Maxine Rogers, several nieces and nephews and his little dog Todd.
The Family requests memorial donations be made to the Deerfield Backpack Program in care of Lumley Stand Church of Christ or to the Gospel of Christ.
