Mrs. Barbara Catherine Krumm, age 80 of Manchester, formerly of Murfreesboro, was born on July 1, 1943, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to the late Howard and Ruth Kerr Barthelman. She was a homemaker and a devoted member of the Nazarene and Free Methodist faith. Mrs. Barbara enjoyed doing word search puzzles, reading Amish romance novels, and taking car rides with her husband, Keith, the “love of her life”, whom she met at the age of 16 and married at the age of 18. They shared their lives together for almost 62 years, while living a “life of adventure” in Iowa, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. While living in Oskaloosa, Mrs. Barbara drove their children and others in the community to church in an old, small bus her husband had purchased. After leaving Oskaloosa, the family moved to for a short time before moving to Kentucky, where they pastored a church for many years. The family then moved back to Tennessee to live with their daughter, Becky. When the grandchildren finally began to fill their home, Mrs. Barbara was their babysitter and was known by family as the “Baby Whisperer” since she was always the one who quickly put a fussy baby to sleep. Mrs. Barbara cherished her family above all else and was known by them as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a great-great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barbara is preceded in death by her siblings, Larry Barthelman, Shirley Barthelman, and Karen Ross. Along with her husband, Keith, she is survived by her loving children, Brian Krumm and his wife, Rochelle, Carmen Krumm, Marion Krumm, and Becky Hendon; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members, and a host of friends.
As per Mrs. Barbara’s request, cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life in her memory will be announced at a later date.
Manchester Funeral Home is honored to serve the Krumm family.
